| Short summary of activities and expertise | My name is Funsho Mary, Oyetunde-Joshua. I hold a first degree in Industrial Chemistry (Second Class Upper (Hons)) and a second degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Pharmaceutical analysis). Recently I completed my doctoral degree from the Natural Products Research group, of the School of Chemistry, University of KwaZulu Natal. My research expertise involves isolation, purification, and identification of bioactive constituents of medicinal plants using spectroscopic techniques, particularly nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Infrared (IR) and Mass spectroscopy. I had the opportunity to do the cytotoxicity assay of the isolated compounds and crude extract of the plants I worked on in my PhD research myself. The assays I carried out included MTT, ATP, LDH and MPP. This afforded me the opportunity to gain some research experience in cell culture and some cytotoxicity assays. |
