Short summary of activities and expertiseThe active stage of the Russian aggression strengthened significantly migrating processes, which also have gender peculiarities because they are mostly women, children and men over 60 who become refugees. These events had an essential influence on the information agenda of media. In its turn, this agenda also influences the formation of audience’s understanding concerning the events in Ukraine both in the country and abroad. In particular, regarding the issue of migrants. Thus, the purpose of the research is to study the processes related to mass migration of the population in the information media discourse. The research specifies the performance of a range of tasks: • to study which themes and problems of migration are raised by respectful Ukrainian and Polish media and the way they depict them; • to analyse the prior media workers’ experience of dealing with conflict-sensitive material; • to research the horizons of expectations of the audience, in particular, of migrants themselves concerning the work of media workers with the issues important for them (evacuation; supplying the food and accommodation provision; employment); • to determine the tendencies towards balance or disbalance in the media presenting of the issues related to migrants’ integration in a new environment, for example, prevailing in the information environment of stories about “bad” migrants who neglect the rules of community in a new society etc., or stories about “active” migrants who start business; neglecting the problems of individual groups of population, particularly, people with disabilities, children and teenagers, representatives of LGBT community, etc. Such methods and their elements as content analysis, discourse–analysis, surveying, monitoring, etc. can be used in the theoretical part of the research.
