Short summary of activities and expertiseI am a researcher with experience in the synthesis of different types of nanomaterials ranging from using metal and metal oxides to mixed metal oxides nanoparticles and materials for the development of new product for application as antimicrobial, antioxidant, catalytic, electronic and optical function. My recent and active research has been synthesizing antimicrobial agents and studying microbial interactions with antimicrobial agents from a research work that is focused on evaluating the effect of synthesized antimicrobial agent (nanoparticles) on microbes. I investigated how the precursor used for the synthesis determines the morphological characteristics of the material and how the morphological characteristic in turn determines the antimicrobial potency of the synthesized materials. Part of the findings of the study which has been published in ACS omega and Dose Response, showed that as much as small size and stability of nanoparticles are very important criteria for boosting the antimicrobial functions in mixed metal oxide nanoparticles, equally important is the determination of two different metal oxides that can enhance each other's antimicrobial function when mixed. As it was discovered that ZnO nanoparticles have its antimicrobial activity decreased when mixed with zirconia nanoparticles unlike silver oxide that has its antimicrobial activity increased when mixed with zirconia nanoparticles. My bachelor’s thesis was on pharmaceutical co-crystallization of amine ligands and carboxylic drugs. In my master’s thesis, I synthesized metal complexes of mixed ligands of Nicotinamide with Metronidazole and metal complexes of Nicotinamide with trimethoprim and evaluate their antibacterial and antifungal activity. I am comfortable with taking on new challenges and working with colleagues to achieve a desired goal because I have an excellent analytical and innovative research planning skills which are evidenced from my published articles.

Additional informationI have excellent interpersonal and communication skills obtained through working within multicultural and multidisciplinary research teams. I have high motivation for academic research, with initiative and capability of working independently as well as in a team environment. Finally, I value continuous improvement based on constructive evaluation, self-reflection and learning. My research interest is along the line of synthesis of materials for various applications that includes but not limited to industrial, medicinal and energy uses.
