Short summary of activities and expertise | Davide Benedetto Tiz got his diploma in 2014 in Chemistry and pharmaceutical technology at the University of Trieste with the thesis "Synthesis and characterization of novel CK-1 inhibitors" under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Stephanie Federico. He completed his PhD at the faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana in 2015 under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Nace Zidar, working on the design and synthesis of antibacterial compounds. His thesis "Discovery of novel N-phenylpyrrolamides as inhibitors of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV" was awarded by pharmaceutical company KRKA (Novo Mesto). While finishing his PhD he spent five months on ENABLE IMI project synthesising compounds with promising antibacterial activities. After finishing his PhD he worked at Fidelta, Zagreb (Croatia) as a medicinal chemist. He later conducted a Postdoctoral research at the University of Pardubice (Czech republic) under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aleš Imramovský. This basic research was focused to prepare new compounds (salicylamide – peptide aldehydes, various epoxides or boronic acids) which should join a large group of proteasome inhibitors. Inhibition of proteasome via blocking its protein recycling function is one of a very promising ways to treat tumor cells or multiple myeloma. Due to a very similar constitution of novel compounds which are now in last stage of clinical trials it can be expected very similar properties as well as biological activities. Prepared compounds are going to be tested as proteasomal and protein kinase inhibitors, for the type of caused apoptosis. Currently he works as a PostDoc fellow at University of Perugia, Italy. His interests are medicinal chemistry and organic chemistry. |
