Short summary of activities and expertiseCentre of Migration Research (CMR) is an interdisciplinary research centre on human migration and mobility. CMR is the biggest and most important migration studies hub in Central and Eastern Europe. Importantly, CMR has excellent expertise in HS3-HS6 panels. From its foundation, CMR studied internal and international mobility as an endogenous aspect of social change in post-socialist Central and Eastern Europe. With post 2004-enlargement migration, the socio-economic consequences of emigration from Poland became an important research topic for the CMR team. Most importantly, CMR researchers have studied work and other aspects of the economy, population, social mobility, integration, social remittances, family relations, the transformation of elderly care, gender and diaspora policies in relation not only to ethnic Poles abroad but also ethnic minorities in Poland. CMR members have also researched migration within Europe and beyond, including in North Africa, North America, Asia and Oceania. Most recently, and in the light of changing migration patterns, we have examined immigration to Poland and its regions, including rural areas that have traditionally been places of origin for migrants rather than immigrant destinations. CMR’s interdisciplinary team, representing anthropology, economics, demography, sociology, legal studies and political science, is divided into three research units (Migration Policy; Socio-Cultural Aspects of Migration; and Socio-Economics of Migration) which collaborate closely on interdisciplinary research projects. CMR hosts one academic journal, Central and Eastern European Migration Review (CEEMR), recently approved by SCOPUS, and a working paper series. The editorial board of CEEMR brings together CEE migration researchers from the Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
