Short summary of activities and expertiseThe activity and research agenda of the Institute focus on areas which are a challenge to modern humanities and which play a key role in the development of social consciousness and the preservation of material and non-material national heritage. It is worth emphasizing that the ISS PAS conducts research on all Slavic cultures and languages as well as their relations with neighbours. The Institute currently implements numerous national and international projects involving researchers from different countries worldwide. The Institute is organised into four departments (Department of Linguistics, Department of Literary and Cultural Studies, Department of History and Department of Nationality Studies) conducting research in linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, history, ethnology and sociology. Within the PO WER program we implement a proprietary curriculum for PhD students entitled "Humanistic interdisciplinary doctoral studies: borderland, minorities, migration in a sociolinguistic perspective". The Institute remains a part of the Anthropos IPAS Doctoral School. Our Doctoral School offers a comprehensive education program that combines preparation for independent and team research with specialized and interdisciplinary seminars conducted by scholars from Poland and abroad.

Previous and current involvement in research and training programmesThe Institute is currently implementing 14 National Science Centre and 5 Ministry of Science and Higher Education grants, i.a. Beethoven, a Polish-German research project. The ISS PAS is also a host for a researcher from Belarus within the NAWA program "Solidary with Belarus". The Institute is a member of CLARIN-PL, a Polish research consortium which is a part of a pan-European research infrastructure CLARIN (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure) and initiated DARIAH-PL (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities). The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange supported the ISS PAS projects within the PROM and Welcome to Poland programs which aim to increase mobility of Polish researchers and develop competencies of academic staff and the institutions’ potential to establish and maintain international cooperation. The ISS PAS employees have been granted numerous awards and scholarships, i.e. Fulbright Senior Award, SMILE, Marie Curie Fellowship and many others.

Key research facilities, infrastructure, and equipmentThe Institute is a leader of sociolinguistic research and nationality studies in the Slavic territory. It possesses all equipment and infrastructure needed to conduct research in humanities and social sciences. We offer a comfortable research area equipped with computers and broad access to journal article repositories. The ISS PAS supports the implementation of the projects by: - providing the Institute's seminar rooms and a computer lab necessary to carry out all the works planned in the project; - providing IT support: network security, recognizable and well-positioned domain, IT service; - providing accounting, administrative, legal and IT services; - support of the Research Support Office in the preparation and implementation of national and international research projects; - publishing support (preparation of publishing calculations; support in obtaining funding for publications; advice on copyright and open access; providing assistance from the publishing policy team; financing translations into congress languages; support and consultation of publishing contracts); - ensuring the promotion of scientific and popular science activities (updating the Institute's website and individual employee subpages in Polish and English; running an informational and popular science fanpage of the Institute, enjoying the interest of the Internet users and a good visibility; ensuring regular, also open, online meetings (and in the hybrid formula); regular streams of the most important scientific and popular science events at the Institute, recorded and available for watching at any time; - legal services to the extent necessary to achieve the goals of the project. The Institute also includes the Library, the Slavic Academic Information Centre and the Publishing Centre of the ISS PAS, which issues eight highly ranked journals included in the ERIH Plus reference index (all of them in open access), and publishes single- and multi-author monographs.

Key research facilities, infrastructure, and equipmentThe Institute is constantly improving its competences in the field of international exchange and the possibility of admitting foreign scientists, including implementing the project "Between East and West. Increasing the potential of the Institute of Slavic Studies PAS as a prestigious centre of international research” as a part of the Welcome to Poland – the National Agency for Academic Exchange program. The ISS PAS offers a pleasant environment with a wide possibility to cooperate. We invite guest researchers to be the part of our organizational structure, i.e. to participate in all events conducted at the Institute. We organize regular meetings of our departments as well as conferences and seminars, where our researchers can present not only their latest achievements but also cooperate internationally. In addition, the Research Support Office operating within the structure of the ISS PAS assists researchers employed in the Institute and from outside (including foreign ones) in applying for various national and international grants. We provide researchers interested in cooperation with the Institute with legal and organizational support as well as a sound working environment.
Intersectoral secondments options The Institute cooperates with various institutions, including the Institute of Western and Southern Slavic Studies of the University of Warsaw and the Slavic Foundation.

Candidate sought The Institute is organized into four departments: Department of Linguistics, Department of Literary and Cultural Studies, Department of History, and Department of Nationality Studies. Our offer is directed to all scientists interested in the following areas: Slavic cultural heritage, diachronic studies; national and regional identities of Slavic peoples (myths, ideas, collective memory); multicutlturalism, language and cultural contact, borderlands, minorities (linguistic, ethnic, religious); linguistic worldview; Slavic synchronic linguistics: contrastive studies, semantics, cognitive studies, corpus linguistics; Slavic studies around the world, Slavic studies information resources. We are looking for: - a candidate experienced in international research projects; - a candidate with proven research achievements confirmed in publications in international journals.
