Short summary of activities and expertiseI am an associate professor at the faculty of law of UniCesumar, in Brazil, where I teach criminal law and history of law in the undergraduate and graduate programs. I have received my PhD degree from the University of Florence (Italy) in the field of Theory and History of Law. Subsequently, I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Legal History of the University of Münster (Germany) and at the Latin American Institute of the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany). In 2017, I was a resident fellow at the Polish Institute of Advanced Studies, established in Warsaw by the Polish Academy of Sciences. Throughout my career, from my PhD until now, I have conducted research mostly in the field of history of law, with a focus in the history of criminal law. I have two ideas for the project to be submitted. The first concerns the history of the first Brazilian Penal Codification (1830) from a transnational perspective, analyzing it amidst the intense circulation of legal ideas in the early 1800's. The second concerns the history of Minor's Law in Brazil. The development of a specific set of legislation to deal with problems concerning "delinquent" or abandoned youth in Brazil started with the 1927 Code for Minors, which partially reflected certain social and scientistic ideologies (such as eugenics and the social hygiene movement). The "minors problem" grew considerably throughout the 1940's and 1950's and, with the collapse of Brazil's democracy due to the 1964 coup d'état, the new authoritarian government developed and implemented new harsher policies for destitute children, which later were formalized by the legal community (especially the National Association of Judges of Minors) in the 1979 Code for Minors. After the opening of the regime and the redemocratization, the "minorist system" was progressively dismantled. Each of these moments could be developed into a research project. At the moment, I am inclined to focus on the post-1964 moment.
